14 Jul Welcome to Lung Cancer Solution
I created this company to make a difference in patients and their family’s lives. If lung cancer is found early, most patients can have the cancer removed or undergo radiation therapy and can then have a good quality of life. My goal is to have more Jenny White’s.
Let me tell you about Jenny. One-day Jenny, a nonsmoker and in her 40’s, decided to clean her bathroom. She mixed some chemicals and began experiencing a horrible cough. When it lingered, she had a chest x-ray which showed a finding that warranted follow up. Subsequently, she had a CT scan which showed a nodule. Then she was placed on serial scans. In her 9 month CT, the nodule size started to increase. She had VATS surgery and was diagnosed with stage 1 adenocarcinoma. Jenny did not need any further treatment. Jenny is a National Advocate for the Lung Cancer Alliance and active with other lung cancer organizations. Most importantly, Jenny is a five-year survivor.
Hospitals, imaging centers, and providers can all make a difference with agreed upon follow up care. Jenny was lucky to have a physician looking out for her. In many instances, providers overlook incidental findings. Also, the facility that provided an imaging test lacks assurance that the patient is notified and a follow up plan is in place.
